Corrections, Retractions, and Expressions of Concern
The Journal of Sports Research and Innovation (JSRI) follows recognised publication ethics standards (COPE guidelines) when handling corrections, expressions of concern, and retractions.
Corrections (Errata / Corrigenda)
Corrections are issued when an error in the published article affects the scholarly record but does not invalidate the overall findings. A correction notice is published as a separate item linked to the original article. The original article is updated with a reference to the correction notice.
Retractions
Retractions may be issued in cases of:
- unreliable findings due to serious error or misconduct;
- plagiarism;
- redundant or duplicate publication;
- fabrication or falsification of data;
- serious ethical breach;
- other forms of research misconduct.
Retracted articles remain accessible on the journal website but are clearly marked as retracted, with a retraction notice explaining the reason. Retraction notices are published as separate items linked to the original article.
Expressions of Concern
An expression of concern may be issued when an investigation into potential misconduct is ongoing and a final conclusion has not yet been reached, or when there is inconclusive evidence of misconduct but the concerns are substantial enough to alert readers.
Procedure
Requests for corrections or retractions may be initiated by the authors, readers, editors, or third parties. All requests are reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief and, where necessary, investigated following COPE retraction guidelines. The decision to correct, retract, or issue an expression of concern is made by the Editor-in-Chief.
